Overview

This guide helps you identify prospects, research companies, qualify opportunities, and create personalized outreach using Claude AI with a Google Sheets integration using Zapier MCP.

The process

1. Company list building: Claude finds 5 ideal prospect companies based on your criteria
2. Research: Claude analyzes each target company and writes findings to Google Sheets
3. Qualification: Claude scores prospects and updates the sheet with recommendations
4. Outreach: Claude creates personalized emails and saves them to your tracking sheet

Result: A complete prospect database in Google Sheets with research, scoring, and personalized emails ready to send.

What is MCP?

Claude → MCP Server → Your Tools (Google Sheets, Zapier, etc.)

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a system that allows Claude to connect with external tools and services. Think of it as a bridge that lets Claude perform actions outside of just chatting - like writing to Google Sheets, sending emails, or accessing other apps. When you set up MCP, you're giving Claude permission to use these tools on your behalf, making your AI assistant much more powerful and practical.

Prerequisites

Step 1: Prepare Your Google Sheets

1. Create your project folder:
   • Go to Google Drive
   • Create a new folder
   • Name it something clear like "AI Customer Outreach"
2. Set up your tracking spreadsheet:
   • Inside that folder, make a copy of the Customer Research and Outreach Template spreadsheet. Note: to make a copy, you need to be signed into your Google Drive account.
